This barbed fitting design along with the radiator clamp is the best style of hose mender I have found. The barbed fitting is tough to push all the way into the rubber hose end but with a little glycerol (glycerin) as lubricant it goes all the way in without much effort. Glycerol is water soluble so cleanup is easy.
