Works just as it should. Simple to install.I love these! They were very easy to just screw on then I was able to hook my washer and my garden hose to either hot or cold as I got one for each. I can easily shut one side off and undo my garden hose without having to turn off the washer. I have had them for 2 years now and they are still holding up great!I know I am going against popular reviews. Please do understand that my intention is not to offend who like this product or discount other reviews in anyway.I'm just trying to further inform other "consumers like myself."Positives:It's a substantial equipment that's over engineered and built like tank. It should last years.Bare minimum packaging is great for our environment.Government mandated full disclosure on product using toxic material is clearly stated on back of its beautifully minimal packaging.Negatives:Well, it contains lead...and here at Amazon there's no mention of that. Like most of you, I have more then enough lead around the house, thanks to paint industry, plumbing industry, lawn industry, vinyl industry, toy industry and on and on.. DO I need any more?Lastly, even as a fit middle age man, I couldn't turn those nobs with bare hands...Conclusion:I would NEVER have bought this product if I knew prior to ordering that it's made of LEAD induced brass! But why would Gilmour post that in product description? For sake of other internet consumers, I had to post a pic of its package that states lead content warning.I am not too thrilled having to waste my time and energy to repack this poison for a return....A good non toxic true brass is made of only copper and zinc. One of the often used reason why lead is introduced is, it's to "enhance the machinability" of brass, about 2% in weight. Lead is just a cheaper (it's cheap because it's extremely toxic) and little easier (softer to cut)work with...The company is abandoning commonsense and welfare of its costumers for convenience and short term profit margin.Of course You and your loved one' health is non issue.. In fact it's very expandable as far as the board of directors are concerned. What would the health cost related to cumulative nature of lead exposure? Thousands? Tens of thousands? What is pain and suffering of you and your loved one worth? I hope it's little more then few bucks companies like this is saving by using L.E.A.D.Less you are exposed to lead, better off you are. Lead tends to build up in body.It will reach all the way to bone marrows in youngsters who organs are still developing...Once it's in there..well, it's very hard if not impossible to get out...Don't let anybody fool you. Lead in A.N.Y. amount is bad.It will hurt consumers and it's especially bad for poor souls in Asia who handle it to make this product so W.E. Americans can save buck or two here.To Gilmour:Unlike "majority" of our home building and contract supply industry has been peddling poisons like asbestos, lead, PVC, formaldehyde, and fiberglass in their products, be a leader in this poisonous industry.I dare you to be the first to wipe out lead and other poison from your product line. Do the humane thing. Man up, Face the stricter regulation. Move your factory from China and create "safe" jobs here. I will gladly pay $20 for your obviously well built product when it's made here in USA, without LEAD additive of course. To the board of directors:You're all old...and you can't take "it" with you... Do some good before you go...Trust me it's better that way.UPDATE 6/29/2011:TO my dismay, I cannot find outdoor faucet products without lead whether it's made here or imported. Also, when I stopped by large big box hardware store, they replaced "ALL" of their screw, nut and bolt stock to "American companies peddling made in China products"... Even few months ago,if I tried hard, I could hunt down "made in USA" products, but not today.UPDATE 7/13/2011:Wow~, I hunted down a Made in good old USA toilet seat today (at mom and pop's hardware store). So hope's still alive..At $60 for a toilet seat, it wasn't easy purchase for me....but I am more then willing to pay the entrance fee for safer Made in USA product.Warning. i was in a hurry to get a couple of these and went to a home store. The brass Gilmour splitters there seemed to be of inferior manufacture and were packaged differently. Some even had the plastic handles. I would not recommend buying them except at Amazon unless you are familiar with them and can distinguish the inferior make. These are durable brass and will hold up outdoors for years. The brass handles are close together which can be inconvenient. But the alternative is a splitter with plastic handles that break off. What is left is small and sharp -- it can hurt to turn them with your bare hand. Also with the non-brass splitters, the little ball valves leak with usage. One little ball valve actually blew out and went whistling past my head. This, I suspect, could also happen with the cheaper Gilmour brass versions that I have seen in stores.A problem with even these better Gilmours is the silly plastic ring which only gets in the way. It will eventually break off with use and good riddance.I describe how to distinguish the better from the worse Gilmours in my review of the 4 way splitter.UPDATE:The other day I bought a Gilmour product that looked brass in the artificial light of the store, but once I pulled it out in broad daylight -- clearly some **** metal. One more thing to watch out for with GilmourAfter using it for the summer, I can finally give my opinion on this. It was very easy to install for my hose and irrigation lines. I like the on/off switches to make it easy to turn on and off. There was no leaks for the first several months, but it has now developed a leak where it attaches at the faucet. It has been kept in place, without removal, the entire time. None of the hoses have been removed either. Tried tightening it a bit and it's still leaky, so it's the gasket that is going already. It has not broken off yet like I've seen in other photos. It doesn't feel like it would either. I just hope they construct the gasket area a bit better and make replacement gaskets easy to install. (And come with an extra in the package)This item works great except for the levers that switch opens/closes the valves. It appears sturdy, there are no leaks, and the water flow is MUCH better than what I've had in the past. The only negative is that's it's hard to move the levers. You have to push REALLY hard on them to open/close the valve. This product only lasted 5 months with very little use. You can see the plastic threaded part has sheeted off of the brass. This part should be metal. This worked well until this year (almost 5 years) - it somehow had a crack on the body and water just sprays everywhere. The reason I purchased brass is to avoid this from happening. Not impressed. Some times water leaks from the metals knobs..apart from that it works fine..else i would have given 5 stars..used it all summer 2015..I used mine for about 3 weeks now and it has worked perfectly so far. The item seems well crafted and the valves turn smoothly and opens and close without any leaks. Works great. Was perfect for what I needed. Works great
