I used to use the Gardenia quick-connects, but hated them for two reason: 1: They cut off the water when disconnected. This means you can't easily clean dirt out of the connectors. (buy a separate cutoff valve if needed.) 2: They are very hard to connect / disconnect. These HQMPC's are great. Very heavy so probably durable, no water cut-off, and they connect-disconnect very easily. They also have a nicely wide opening, so minimal flow restriction.Good product, bought two more once I saw the quality of the first two.Looking for cheap Nelson Quick Connector? I have used Nelson connectors on my outdoor hoses since the 80s. The real-deal is not easy to find locally and the price it getting a bit ridiculous for what is a hunk of machined brass. There are plenty of knock-offs in the local stores. Some are fully compatible with Nelson and some are not. Avoid any that have a separate o-ring in the female connector. These have the one-piece seal on the female side where the sealing surface for the male end and the threaded hose connection are the same; just like the Nelson connector. The seal itself is slightly larger than Nelson, but that is not a problem. You just have to use the correct replacements down the line with the rubber seals get hard. The main issue is the length of the male connector between the sealing edge and the collar where the ball bearings on the female end grab onto is slightly longer (a few mm). If you try to put the male end from this one into the female end of a Nelson connector, you will have to push *really* hard to get it to snap in. Depending on the design of the end of the hose that the female side is connected to, you may not be able to get it to attach at all. The opposite works so long as the rubber seal on the female end of this product is still flexible. It will probably leak down the road when the seal hardens.I've seen these being sold under many brand names. You can identify them by the small step in the collar at the base of the male end. Real Nelson connectors do not have this.In short, these work great so long as you have all the same type. If you try to mix these with real Nelson connectors (or their more accurate knock-offs), you will have problems. If you own a pressure washer, and wish to use quick disconnect couplings, these are the way to go because the good quality and the ID is larger than the style that uses an "O" ring on the nose of the male fitting of the other type coupling. You can see the other type pictured/advertised here. For regular watering purposes, the other type is fine and the "O" ring that goes on the nose of the male fitting is easier to find locally when needed. For a pressure washer, you want all the water you can get to the pump so this 3/4 HQMPC coupling is best way to go.To my surprise, these couplings came with extra special washers. They are special designed just for this type coupling to prevent internal coupling leaks so it would be wise to stock up on some extras beyond what are furnished if you use your equipment a great deal. I have not ordered these yet but seem to be what is needed.(GaiGaiMall 20Pcs Garden Hose Washer for 3/4" Hose Quick Connect)I have used quick disconnect couplings for years, sometimes had to buy aluminum couplings because that was all that was available locally. Don't waste your time and money on them.So I installed this at the spigot and it leaked horribly. I had read other reviews about how you might need to flip the washer around, so I did that and it still leaked horribly. Later I tried installing it at the other end of the hose with the sprayer, and to my surprise it didn't leak at all! I noticed there was some tension when coupling the two pieces together that I didn't feel when I had previously installed it at the spigot. So I took it off and put it on the spigot again, and felt around at the washer and noticed it seemed to be moving loosely. For whatever reason the female end of the quick connect isn't twisting up far enough to create a seal. Slapped one of the extra washers in there and attached everything and voila! No leak! Was pretty frustrated at first but all's well in the end.Like it a lotThese have better water flow than the ones I got from Menard's last year. They are also 10x better quality. Yes I would recommend.Love the opening size. This product was purchased to add to an existing system (See photo: Left side=Existing). Advertised pictures of male side (nipple) shows smooth sided machining for sealing, designed without the use of "O" rings for sealing the male to female connectors.Product received (Photo: Right side=Received) utilizes "O" rings for making a seal therefore, does not match existing (smooth sided) set up. They are not interchangeable.A bit of a pain to return, research and reorder. It is much cheaper than any retail store price and so far as good if not better. I would definitely purchase again.Nice product. Does not leak, fits well together!fonctionne bien
